So thankful to have met these young gentlemen.

From escorting us to a music show at Ziva, to helping us at the pool & beach area, they were the best. Incredibly friendly and eager to help us however possible. Joan, and coworker (unfortunately do not remember his name but will attach photo here). We had these gentlemen a couple of mornings, and they took were happy to help, and even got to chatting in español. She helped me with español and I helped her with English. We had her as our server the last few days and she is so happy and cheerful, she brightened our day every morning. We want to give a special shout out to several of the special staff we encountered during our stay: -Esther, at the Pier. Please do not be one of these people :( We came for the vacation, beach, and great drinks, but left happy, knowing we made genuine connections with staff. Despite being treated poorly, the always kept a happy face and catered to guests. Some guests appeared to believe they were the only person there and wanted their needs met immediately.

I don’t want to touch on this too much, but slamming your cup down on the counter shouting “WATER PLEASE?” And cussing staff out after only waiting 1 minute, all while they have a full bar of guests to care for….

Not all guests were like this, but I would say about 1/2 of the guests forgot how to treat humans. Unfortunately, we also witnessed some foul treatment of staff during our stay. Staff would appreciate it, for you to simply just try. This does not mean that you need to be fluent in Spanish prior to visiting, but it certainly would not hurt to learn a few basic words or phrases. Most staff know pretty good English, however, some do not know much at all. I believe it’s important to remember, as guests at the resort AND guests visiting another country, that the DR primarily speaks Spanish. Anyone we came into contact with at Zilara AND Ziva, we’re friendly and helpful- always. Everytime we travel, we like to meet the locals and see a glimpse inside their lives.

what really made our stay special were the staff. I now have a new found love for affogatos after dinner ) As for the rest of the trip…. We stopped there quite often and the staff were very accommodating. The little coffee bar “Deja Brew” was super cute and had pastries, sandwiches, dessert, and of course coffee. Some days they had lunch at the pool, for example: one day was a fish fry, and another was a mojito and taco day. For us, this was nice, as we were traveling as a couple with my in laws and did not care for screaming children. However, under 18 year old Ziva guests could not come to Zilara. Ziva was easily accessible for meals or water park, or even evening events. Water park was fun and impressive to be at a resort.

We also did the hydrotherapy circuit at the spa which was excellent(massages were a little on the steep side). If you care about working out, the gym is very impressive on its own (check out photos online). I suggest at least trying the local food options they have. Nespresso makers in the room and snacks refilled daily. To eat, restaurants were first come first serve, so if there is somewhere specific you’d like to eat at, plan ahead. The amenities were great, cleanliness we give 5 stars, and food- for an all inclusive? Was excellent. This was, by far, the best all inclusive resort we have been to.
